iBall Andi 4.5h sports a 4.5 inch screen with qHD resolution. It is powered by a dual core processor running ICS OS with 1GB RAM. The handset is priced at around Rs. 12,300.

This handset comes with MediaTek MT6577 dual core chipset  with PowerVR SGX 531 GPU same as found on many other low cost handsets like Micromax A110, Lava Xolo A700 etc. Most of the low cost dual core handset come with 512MB RAM; and few like this Andi 4.5h come with 1GB RAM.

Box pack and Design
The Box is quite big, seems like a sweet box. Inside there is the handset, charger, USB to Micro USB cable, earphone, warranty card and User guide.

The handset is all glossy white with silver lines covering part of the top and bottom side. There are 3 touch sensitive back-lit buttons on front side. The power and 3.5mm jack is present on the top, volume rockers on the left and Micro USB port on the bottom.

Processor, Memory and Storage
Its MT6577 dual core processor clocked at 1GHz coupled with PowerVR SGX 531 GPU. The RAM is 1GB and internal storage is 4GB. Those looking for 1GB RAM, this is a good option.

  • Of the 1GB RAM about 700MB is free.
  • Of 4GB internal storage 503MB is assigned for apps of which 447MB is free and another 2GB (free) as internal storage.

Performance
The Performance is smooth, no lags and with 1GB RAM you will be able to multitask even better.

  • Quadrant benchmark score : 2651.
  • Antutu benchmark score : 6562.
  • Nenamark 2 score : 23.8fps.
  • Linpack : Single : 37,  Multi : 57.
  • Multi Touch: 5 point.

Display and OS
The touchscreen display is 4.5 inches with qHD resolution i.e. 960×540 pixels. The touch is smooth and responsive. Because of a 4.5 inch screen and a high resolution the pixels / fonts / images look much sharper.

The Andi 4.5h runs on Android 4.0.4 OS (ICS) and I don’t think it will get the Jelly Bean update.

8MP Camera
The handset comes with a front VGA camera with native video calling support and a rear camera of 8MP resolution with Auto Focus and LED flash. The camera performance is near about the same as we have seen on the Micromax A110, Micromax A90s, Karbonn A30 and other handsets.

The camera can also record videos in 720p resolution with infinity focus or continuous auto focus.

Entertainment
Download MX player and you will be able to play 720p videos with ease. This handset cannot play 1080p movies. In fact non on the MT6577 handsets can.

Gaming
I did check few games like Angry birds, temple run etc, that no doubt worked quite comfortably. Modern Combat 3 game will also work, I could not check it cause of limited time, but I did kept it for download for few minutes just to check if it actually stores the data on external SD or internal SD. It did store on internal SD.

Connectivity
The dual SIM (with dual Standby) Andi 4.5h supports 3G (HSDPA 7.2Mbps), 2G (EDGE/GPRS), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS with A-GPS support, micro SD slot, 3.5 mm jack and Micro USB. USB and Bluetooth tethering is supported and you can also use the Wi-Fi as a hotspot.

Battery
The 1600 mAh battery should be sufficient for the 4.5 inch screen and you can expect a full day usage on a single charge.

There is a good Rs. 2000 difference between the Micromax A110 and this handset. The 4.5h does have an advantage and that is qHD resolution and the 1GB RAM. If you compare the benchmark scores there is little difference between 512MB RAM phone and the 4.5h with 1GB.

If you run many heavy applications or multi task a lot then 1GB RAM would be best. For now I think there are very few handsets with 1GB RAM, wonder why Micromax, Karbonn have not yet launched a 1GB (RAM) version?
