Huawei Ascend Y200 (U8655) comes with IPS screen and with dual mics for noise reduction. The android handset boots in just about 5 seconds and can be fully charged in less than 2 hours. The Y200 is priced at under Rs. 7,500.

This handset from Huawei will give a tough competition to Karbonn A7 and other 800MHz powered smartphones. The Huawei Ascend Y200 runs on an 800MHz CPU with Android 2.3. The weight is 120 grams which includes the battery and thickness is 11.7mm.

Y200 comes with a better screen resolution of 320×480 pixels with capacitive touch technology. The display screen is of a good 3.5 inches supporting 262K colours. The Y200 – U8655 comes with 256MB RAM which seems a bit less but with flash memory of 512MB. External storage card (microSD) is supported of up to 32GB. There is a 3.2MP rear camera without flash.

Huawei Y200 is a 3G phone supporting HSDPA up to 7.2 Mbps and HSUPA up to 5.76 Mbps, GPRS and EDGE. There is Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Micro UBS slot. For entertainment you can use the built in media player via loudspeaker or 3.5mm Jack. There is built in FM for live music on the move.

Other features included are GPS, accelerometer, proximity and ambient light sensors. The 1250 mAh Li-ion battery gives a talk time of about 4 hours on a 3G network and standby time of around 220 hours (approx 9 days).

Similar specs smartphones are already available in the market, though Huawei seems to be a better brand it is still not very popular in India as compared with Micromax, Karbonn or Spice. Overall the specs are good and the price is competitive.
