HTC today, has announced the new HTC EVO 3D smartphone running on Android OS. This is HTC’s first mobile phone to come with 3D enabled multimedia features. Now you can capture your world as you see it, in 3D and that too without the need of any 3D glasses. The HTC EVO 3D handset is powered by S3 mobile Snapdragon processor and runs on the Gingerbread Android 2.3 OS.
HTC EVO also claims to be the first smartphone that is 3D enabled and available in the Indian market does not require any glasses. Users will be able to view and even capture pictures and videos in 3D and enjoy the glasses free 3D experience, a unique way of bringing the memories back to life.
HTC EVO 3D features
Presenting the HTC EVO 3D, no glasses required, an Android 2.3 Gingerbread phone with 3D camera capture option and full HD camcorder capability with zero shutter lag.
Hardware and operating system
The HTC EVO 3D is powered by dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 mobile processor running at 1.2 GHz. The OS used is Android 2.3 with HTC sense user interface. This 3D smartphone comes with 1 GB of RAM and 1 GB of phone storage with microSD 2.0 compatible slot. MicroSD card up to 32GB is supported. For HD and 3D capabilities the handset comes loaded with 220 Adreno GPU supported by stereoscopic 3D which enabled glass free 3D experience.
Sensors
This 3D Android handset comes equipped with Ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, G-sensor, Gyro sensor and digital compass. The smartphone is capable of doing anything that other high end smartphones can.
Camera
There is a lot to talk about the HTC EVO 3D camera. There are 2 cameras, a primary 5 megapixel camera at back and a 1.3 megapixel secondary camera placed in the front. The front fixed focus camera can be used for self photography and for making video call and for video chat. The camera supports auto focus and also features dual LED flash that will keep you smiling even in low light conditions.
Now here is the interesting part. You can capture photos in 2D mode up to 5 megapixels resolution or in 3D mode at 2 megapixel resolution. There is a button on the side from where you can choose the camera mode. You can shoot pictures or record videos in 3D mode via dual cameras. Record videos in 2D or 3D mode at up to 720p resolution.
Display and Dimensions
The HTC EVO 3D comes with a 4.3 inch capacitive touch screen with 3D support. The handset is of dimension 126.1mm x 65.4mm x 11.3mm and weighs just 170 grams with battery.
Connectivity
You can access internet over the 3G network or using GRPS / EDGE. The EVO 3D smartphone also comes with Wi-Fi built in which can be used as a hotspot to share internet from your mobile with other Wi-Fi enabled devices. Apart from that Wi-Fi and USB tethering is also supported. With USB tethering enabled just connect the phone with your laptop or desktop using the connecting cable and access internet connection through your mobile. The phone storage can also be used as a USB drive.
In addition there is a 3.5 mm audio jack, micro USB 2.0 port with HD video link (MHL) to connect to USB or HDMI connection. This HTC 3D handset supports Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP, FTP, OPP and PBAP (to access from car kit).
This HTC handset also comes with internal GPS antenna, this combined with Google maps will let you explore more. Social networking comes enabled with Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Flickr pre-installed with built in sharing options from different apps.
Multimedia
You can watch movies, listen to MP3’s or just switch on the FM radio. There are a lot of entertainment options. The SRS virtual surround sound enhances the experience further. With DLNA you can stream media from smartphone to computer or TV wirelessly.
Battery
The HTC EVO 3D comes with 1730 mAh rechargeable Li-ion battery which according to HTC will give a standby time of 355 hours and up to 450 minutes of talktime on 3G network.
