HTC’s Octa Core powered handset the Desire 616 was leaked in first week of April, and now it has gone official. HTC has launched the 616 in Singapore for 298 SGD. The handset will be launched in India within few days / weeks.

It would be great if HTC can price this at under Rs. 16K in India. The 616 is dual SIM running Jelly Bean with HTC Sense 5.5 user interface (probably might get the KitKat update). Screen is 5 inches with 1280 x 720p resolution.

As far as the internal storage and the RAM are concerned it is not that great, on-board RAM is 1GB and internal storage is 4GB. There is external card support of up to 32GB. This handset comes packed with dual cameras. 2MP with 720p recording support placed on the front and 8MP AF with 1080p recording support on the rear with LED flash.

HTC Desire 616 is using the MediaTek MT6592 cortex A7 chipset @ 1.7GHz with Mali 450MP GPU. Key features are 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS (A-GPS) and Bluetooth. The 616 comes with a 2000 mAh battery and will be available in red, white and black colour options.

This Desire handset will hit the stores soon, probably with an affordable price tag. Let’s see if it can beat the Alcatel OneTouch Idol X+ price, as specs wise the X+ is way better.

Tip: Shashank.
