HCL has now launched an Android powered 3G tablet called the HCL Me Y2 that comes for a price tag of Rs. 14,999. This tab is powered by a 1GHz processor, comes with a 7 inch screen, 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage.

Tablet manufacturers in India are slowly shifting to 3G enabled tabs and the pricing is also getting quite competitive. When you talk about the HCL brand the next brand that comes in the mind is the Samsung brand – the Galaxy Tab 2 for around 19K.

The HCL Me Y2 comes nowhere near the Galaxy Tab 2, you will agree once you check the specifications. To start with a 1GHz cortex A9 processor powers the Me Y2 which is loaded with 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage. ICS (Android 4.0) runs fairly smooth on this tab.

There is Wi-Fi, build in 3G SIM slot which can house any SIM card for on the go net connection as well as phone features. There is Bluetooth and HCL ME App store for downloading apps. HCL brands usually do not support access to Google Play instead users are forced to use their special app store.

HCL Me Y2 3G Review
The specifications are the same as on the Wammy Ethos 3G. The same hardware found on low cost brands but with pricing very close to high end brands. Price is definitely too high and also note that there is no GPS, in fact the latest Reliance 3G tab is a much better option or spend extra money and go for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.
