Google has unveiled the next Chromebook called the Chromebook 11 with a price tag of $279 that comes to approx Rs. 17,300. This laptop is available in different colors and interestingly is powered by same hardware that is used on mobile devices – smartphones/tablets.
The Chromebook 11 is powered by Dual core Exynos processor (Samsung 5250 GAIA) that powers many handsets and tablets. And since this laptop houses a mobile processor it can be easily charged using the standard micro USB port.
This Chromebook is also available in 4G version the price has not yet been disclosed. The screen (not a touchscreen) is 11.6 inches with 16:9 aspect ratio supporting 1366×769 pixels and having a very good viewing angle.
The Chromebook 11 weighs about 1.04 kg and is 17.6mm thick. It houses the browser-based operating system (Chrome) with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage (SSD). For input there is the chrome keyboard and click-able touch-pad. Other features are Magnesium chassis, 2xUSB port, micro SIM slot that supports 3G (4G version also available), micro USB for charging, video out port, headphone/ mic jack, Wi-Fi (a/b/g/n) and Bluetooth 4.0.
The battery (capacity unknown) gives continuous usage time of up to 6 hours. The laptop is powered by a mobile processor that is efficient, powerful and consumes less power. This also helps make the Chromebook 11 a silent laptop (fan-less design).
