Gionee India has launched the Gionee P2 a dual core cortex A7 handset clocked at 1.3GHz. This low budget handset comes powered by MT6572 chipset coupled with Mali 400 GPU. P2 is priced at Rs. 6,499.

Not only are the Gionee P2 specifications almost similar to the XOLO A500S handset, even the price is near about the same. The P2 is 11.15mm thick and supports dual SIM. It is powered by 1.3GHz dual core (MT6572 cortex A7) processor with Mali 400 GPU.

Android 4.2 Jelly Bean runs the show with a modest 512MB RAM and 4GB internal storage. External SD card of up to 32GB is also supported. There are dual cameras. A VGA camera placed on the front and another 5MP (probably fixed focus just like on the XOLO A500S) on the rear.  HD video recording is supported.

The TFT screen is 4 inches supporting a resolution of 800×480 pixels with 16.7M colors. As for connectivity there is 3G support, 2G (class 12), Wi-Fi (b/g/n) with hotspot, GPS and Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP. Other features are DTS 3D surround sound, FM radio with recording, supports UC browser and comes with light, accelerometer and proximity sensors.

Unlike the XOLO A500S that comes with 1400 mAh battery the Gionee P2 is topped up with a 1700 mAh battery. This handset is available in Black and White color options for Rs. 6,499.
