Ringing Bells a new company as expected has launched the cheapest smartphone ever – Freedom 251, that carries a price tag of just ₹251. Their website was already up since morning, the handset shown on the website was different from what was launched at the event a few minutes back. As of now their site has been updated and you can see the actual Freedom 251 handset there.

Ringing Bells Freedom 251 looks like a re-branded Adcom smartphone but for ₹251 it still sounds unbelievable. If you are interested you can buy this handset from 6AM onwards, tomorrow (18th of Feb 2016).

Do note that Freedom 251 shipping will begin by end of June 2016, that’s a huge waiting time – we will get a better idea about the delivery schedules when the booking process starts. As far as the specifications are concerned most of you are already aware of it. It is 1.3GHz quad core powered handset sporting a 4 inch qHD / WVGA resolution running Lollipop with 1GB RAM and 8GB ROM and 32GB micro SD card support.

Freedom 251 goes official

This dual SIM handset comes with a 3.2MP primary camera and a VGA secondary camera. Key features are 3G, 2G, GPS, WiFi and Bluetooth. A 1450 mAh battery powers up this handset.

You can get more info about the device and how it can be booked from the Freedom251.com website.

Though the handset is priced at ₹251, we will have to see what will be the booking procedure tomorrow, if they are charging extra amount – I guess users will have to pay for the delivery.

I am not sure what the companies strategy is, but I hope this does not meet the same fate that the aakash tablet did.

The hands on units that were made available at the event had a whitener covering the Adcom logo. Now this really is a bad practice, if you don’t have a proper sample at a launch event, with the proper logo, things gets a lot suspicious. And if this be the case, did any one see the Defense Minister there?
