Epson Moverio BT-100 is an innovative gadget, a personal see through wearable display with portable controller. This is a completely different as compared with the Google Glasses.

The BT-100 might look like any ordinary sunglasses; however it’s a kind of a personal entertainment system with perceived image size of 80” at 5m and resolution of 960×540 pixels (16M colours). This gadget runs on the Android 2.2 OS.

In simple words this gadget puts videos, internet and apps right in front of your eyes on a floating virtual display. There is the headset and controller, the headset looks too bulky with a weight of around 240 grams with lens shade.

The controller plays an important part; you can switch on / off the power and navigate easily using the capacitive track pad (multi touch not supported). There is a dedicated home, menu and back button along with 4 way directional button with center select/enter button.

The Epson Moverio BT-100 supports MPEG4, H.264 video and AAC , MP3 audio formats. Adobe flash 11 is also supported. The internal memory is 1GB and a microSD slot can houses microSD card of up to 2GB and MicroSDHC card of up to 32GB. You can watch content in 2D/3D.

The 2530 mAh Li-po battery gives a usage time of about 6 hours and can be recharged via AC adapter or microUSB terminal. Overall a good product essentially meant for watching videos, playing games and also for surfing. But the headset seems a bit odd.

This android Glasses – wearable display is priced at Rs. 42,900. The Google Glasses (expected to be released before 2014) already looks so exciting / light weight and can do a lot more than the BT-100, and of course will come for a higher price.
