Many people use Facebook including myself. I love the way Facebook works but there is one feature that can turn out to be really annoying, the Facebook Chat. Though some may find the chat feature useful, for me it really does not serve the purpose.
The Facebook chat feature is here to stay. There is no option in Facebook settings to completely opt out of the Facebook chat feature (Well I would love to see this feature in the future). However you can use the Go Offline option available in the chat window to disable chat and the settings are preserved in future sessions also.
How to turn off Facebook Chat
- On the Facebook page, bottom right hand side you will see the chat tab click it to open the chat window.
- Then click the Options tab.
- You will find the Go Offline menu click it and you have successfully shut off the Facebook chat, almost permanently.
- Once the Go Offline is enabled you will still see the chat tab at bottom right hand side with the word (Offline).
To enable chat again simply click once on the Chat (Offline) tab. Make sure you don’t accidently click the chat (Offline) tab as a single click activates the Facebook chat.
