Both Sony models come with same resolution camera and features expect for the Xperia U which comes with an additional 0.3 MP front camera that can be used for video chatting / calling.
Sola is slimmer and is lighter, well 3 grams would hardly make any difference but the slim body is definitely noticeable.
Both models come with 8 gigs internal and 512 RAM but only the Sola supports external storage cards.
Rest features are the same : 1 GHz dual core processor, Android 2.3 ( upgradable to android 4.0), Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, Micro USB, FM radio etc.
Which one should you buy?
The difference in the screen size (0.2 inch), dimension and weight will be an important criteria for many users. Xperia U does have a dual advantage which is the low price tag and the front facing camera. The only extra feature that Sola offers is the microSD card slot.
The 8 GB internal memory is more than sufficient for many, but if you like carrying all your personal stuffs (mp3’s, movies, images etc.) that run may into many GB’s you will need the microSD support but this also means you pay higher price, get a bit bigger screen but without the front camera.
For average users the Xperia U is all that they will need and it’s cheaper.
