RIM Wednesday, launched the most talked about BlackBerry Torch 9860 touchscreen smartphone in India. The Torch 9860 comes powered by a 1.2 GHz processor and will run on the BlackBerry 7 OS. This touchscreen BlackBerry phone will come for a price of Rs. 20,700.
The BlackBerry Torch 9860 was announced in August 2011 and was expected to be released in the month of September, finally it is here. The Torch 9860 features the next generation BlackBerry browser that can manage business and personal content separately and you can initiate search by simply saying it (voice activated search).
BlackBerry Torch 9860 features
The Torch 9860 is a 3G BlackBerry smartphone with dimension 120 x 62 x 11.5 and weighs just 135 grams. The handset runs on the BB 7 OS, is powered by 1.2 GHz processor (Qualcomm 8655) and comes with WebKit browser engine. BB Torch 9860 is faster than its previous models in fact the browsing speed is almost 40% faster than its predecessors.
Display and Memory
The BlackBerry Torch 9860 features a 3.7 inch TFT capacitive WVGA touchscreen with 16M colours on 480 by 800 pixels resolution (253 ppi). This BB smartphone comes with 768 MB of RAM and internal storage of 4 GB. The storage of 4GB is sufficient for normal usage but you can always add microSD card (card capacity up to 32 GB) for additional storage space. This handset is very powerful and gaming experience can be mind blowing so no doubt you will need extra space for MP3’s, videos and gaming apps.
Data Connectivity
The Torch 9860 supports 3G (HSDPA 14.4 Mbps, HSUPA 5.76 Mbps), 2G (Edge / GPRS) comes with built in Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n) and microUSB 2.0 port. This handset also comes with internal GPS antenna (A-GPS supported) that can be used with BlackBerry maps. Direct IP web browsing over Wi-Fi is supported.
Camera
Like most BlackBerry smartphones there is only one primary camera placed at the back having a resolution of 5 megapixels with video recording capabilities of 720p. The camera loaded with features such as geo tagging (using GPS), face detection, auto focus, continuous auto focus, Zero shutter lag, 4x digital zoom and image stabilizer. You can shoot images in low light condition using the built in LED flash.
Entertainment
Be it watching movies, listing to your favourite MP3 or playing games the BlackBerry Torch 9860 will not disappoint you. You can listen or watch movies in various formats (Video : DivX/XviD/MP4/WMV/H.263/H.264) (Audio: MP3/WMA/eAAC+/FlAC/OGG player) that are supported. For more entertainment you can always tune in to the FM radio that too comes built in.
Other features
You can work with Windows documents (Word / PowerPoint / Excel), stay connect with your friends on social networks and use BlackBerry Maps to find your way. The BlackBerry Torch 9860 comes with a standard Li-Ion 1230 mAh removable/rechargeable battery that can play continuous music for up to 45 hours, can play videos up to 6.5 hours, talktime of up to 6 hours on 3G networks and standby time of up to 320 hours (13 days).
