BlackBerry Playbook Wi-Fi now available for just Rs. 13,990

BlackBerry Playbook 7 inch touchscreen Wi-Fi version is now available for a throwaway price of just Rs. 13,490. This price is very tempting especially when there are so many other low cost tablets available, and Blackberry being a renowned brand.

The BlackBerry Playbook for Rs. 13,990 is available from flipkart.com. Let’s have a look at the Playbook specifications and if it is worth the price. Definitely the latest price is tempting but it is not that easy to make up your mind.

The Rs. 13,490 BlackBerry Playbook comes powered by a Dual Core Cortex A9 1 GHz processor and running on BB Tablet OS (QNX OS). This tablet has been in the market for quite some time and has not a good response mainly because of the operating system which is particularly new to Indian users who are more inclined towards iOS and Android systems.

The Playbook comes with dual cameras, a 5 MP rear facing camera and a secondary front facing 3 MP camera.  Full HD recording is supported at 1080p. The TFT LCD screen is 7 inches supporting 1024 by 600 pixels resolution.

This tablet comes with 16 GB internal storage and 1 GB RAM. Weight is 425 grams and dimension is 130 x 194 x 10 mm. This BB tablet can easily communicate with other BlackBerry devices. Other features are HTML 5/ Adobe / Adobe AIR support, HDMI output port, micro USB port for charging, GPS and Bluetooth.  The 5300 mAh Li-Po battery when fully charges can get the playbook running for almost 7 hours non-stop.

The BlackBerry Playbook (Wi-Fi version) comes with just Wi-Fi support and with no 3G support. Available with 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB storage, the 32 GB version comes for Rs. 15,990. This tablet does not support any external storage cards.

There are some limitations with low cost tablet and so is with the BlackBerry Playbook. First of all there is no 3G support, but for some that may not be an issue. Other problem is the OS, most users are not comfortable with and are not sure if there are enough free apps available as compared with android OS.

The good part is that this tablet is much better in terms of quality as compared with other low cost tablets. For example the screen resolution is good with capacitive technology, there is built in Bluetooth and GPS that you miss on many low cost tablets and of course this one comes with a more powerful processor running at 1 GHz. Even with a latest low price tag it may not be easy to make up your mind.. Should I really buy this? Or err.. wait… for the Aakash UbiSlate 7+…?
