The talked about BlackBerry Passport has been launched. It’s a rather unusual kind of a smartphone with a 4.5 inch touchscreen and a dedicated physical keyboard for more accuracy. The 3 row keyboard is touch sensitive (capacitive touch).

The 4.5 inch screen with 1:1 aspect ratio supports resolution of 1440 x 1440 pixels (It’s a square screen). This handset runs on BlackBerry 10 OS and is powered by 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 MSM8974-AA processor with Adreno 330 GPU clocked at 450 MHz.

On the storage part there is 3GB RAM, 32GB storage and 128GB external micro SD card support. The BlackBerry Passport comes with 13 megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED flash and a 2 megapixel front camera. Rear camera can record 1080p videos at 60fps and front camera can shoot 720p videos.

Key features are 4G (LTE), 3G HSPA+, 2G, Wi-Fi, FM radio, Bluetooth, GPS and NFC. There are accelerometer, gyro, ambient light, ToF (Time of Flight) it is an enhanced proximity sensor and magnetic sensor.

BlackBerry Passport launched

The BB Passport houses a 3450 mAh non-removable battery that gives a talk time of up to 18 hours, 84 hours of audio playback and up to 12 hours of video playback.

The BlackBerry Passport is priced at $599 – most likely this product will be launched on 29th September in India.
