Asus have now launched the Asus MeMo Pad ME172V a 7 inch tablet running Jelly bean OS for a price of $149. Users are still waiting for the Asus Nexus 7 tablet, but for now here is the MeMo Pad which is cheaper than the Nexus 7.

MeMo Pad ME172V is powered by a single core 1GHz processor (VIA WM8950 SoC) coupled with Mali 400 GPU. The tab sports a 7 inch touchscreen display with 1024×600 pixels resolution. The screen supports 10 point multi touch and has excellent viewing angle.

The ME172V comes with built in internal memory and also supports external SD card. You can choose between the 8GB  and 16GB variant, plus you can always increase the storage space by using external micro SD cards.

Design wise it looks near about the same as the nexus 7 tab. The MeMo Pad ME172V weighs 370 grams with a thickness of 11.2mm whereas the Google Nexus 7 weighs 340 grams and is 10.45mm thick. This tab is loaded with 1GB RAM for smoother operation.

Other features are Wi-Fi, 3.5mm jack and micro USB port. There is no built in 3G SIM slot. This MeMo Pad comes with a bigger 4270 mAh battery. Asus is a very renowned brand and the price, if under 10K, will be quite reasonable.
