Apple iPhone 8 was recently launched in India and as expected the price of Apple iPhone 7 dropped. The iPhone 7 is now available for a price tag of under Rs. 40K. Here is the review of Apple iPhone 7, I know it’s late but in case you are tempted to buy the iPhone 7 cause of the price drop.
This is also the first time that I am doing the review of a iPhone. I got the Apple iPhone 7 from Flipkart for Rs. 38,999. Apple is totally a different category and a unique product. The box packing is simple and here are the content you will get inside the box.
iPhone 7, SIM ejector pin, user manual, warranty card, data cable (USB to Lightning), Lightning to 3.5mm audio jack, travel charger and premium quality earphone. Inside the box you also get some apple stickers.
I got the iOS 11.0.3 update. The UI is different and if you have used an Android phone before it will take some time getting used to. The user experience was pretty good, pretty smooth I would say, really enjoyed the smoothness with which the OS was performing.
Apple does not reveal much of the details but I got these info from Antutu Benchmark app.

Performance
As already mentioned the Apple iPhone falls in a different category. If you look at the hardware on paper it does not seem powerful but thanks to the iOS it works amazingly smooth. Handset does heat up like android phones when using heavy apps but heat up is under control. Overall performance was buttery smooth.

Antutu Benchmark : 141416
Apple iPhone 7 Gaming review
Since this handset is running iOS, I downloaded Asphalt 8 and it played really well. One thing to note is that the OS is different and the apps are optimized to work on the iOS. There are not many options that you get on the Asphalt 8 when compared with what you get on Android.
The game play was smooth but if you compare the details with what you see on the Android phones, you can clearly make out the difference, i.e. you can see more details (graphics / effects) on Android.
iPhone 7 Camera Review
Rear Camera : 12MP, f/1.8 aperture, flash
Front Camera : 7MP FaceTime HD, f/2.2
Video Recording : 4K @ 30fps, 1080p @ 30/60fps, 720p @ 30fps. Slow motion 1080p @ 120, 720p @ 240 fps
This is Apple iPhone 7 that comes with a single camera. The camera quality is above average. Low light shots turned out pretty good. This handset can shoot 4K videos. There is OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) not really that great.
As mentioned the still camera quality is above average however when it comes to using this phone for recording videos, the quality is impressive, even the slow motion videos. Check the samples listed below.

Others
The finger print sensor on the front is very fast and accurate. iPhone 7 also gives a unique vibration feedback. Sound is loud and clear, no issues found with networks or any other issues as such.
iPhone 7 Battery review
Apple has not given any info on the battery. It however took me 2 hours and 30 minutes to charge this handset from 20% to 100%. And on a full charge you can get one to one and a half day of battery life, based on your usage.
Verdict
This was the first time I actually used a iPhone though really not that impressed, in fact you can get the same or better experience from most Android smartphones. Having said that the iPhone 7 Plus and the iPhone 8 Plus that comes with dual cameras are way better. I have seen the camera capabilities of the iPhone 8 Plus, so in case you are planning to get a iPhone makes sense to go for the Plus version if you are okay with the size and price.
