Immediately after the new iPad was announced, and as expected, the prices of Apple iPad 2 has dropped. The latest update is that the iPad 2 Wi-Fi version in India is now available for Rs. 24,500 and the Wi-Fi + 3G version will now cost just Rs. 32,900.

The new iPad is more powerful and comes with new impressive features.  It will be launched in selected countries from 16th March. There is no word as to when the new iPad will reach the Indian markets.

But this did not stop the dealers in India to re-consider the price. It does make sense to drop the price now as the iPad 3 will cost nearly the same. Furthermore the Apple iPad 2 – 32 GB and 64 GB versions has been discontinued, reason being – their price clashes with the new iPad and may confuse the consumer.

So for all those interested in the iPad can go in for the iPad 2 16 GB Wi-Fi or 16 GB Wi-Fi + 3G versions for Rs. 24,500 and Rs. 32, 900 respectively. Do not spend money on the 32 GB and the 64 GB – iPad 2 version even if they are available as for the same cost you can buy the new iPad.

The iPad 2 for Rs. 24,500 seems to be worthwhile and will compete with other tablets available in the same price band; this could also force other vendors to reduce the prices of other brands.
