We knew the Micromax Superfone A85, a powerful handset with a premium price tag was coming and now it is available in the Indian market. The price tag is below Rs. 20,000 and the main features are a 1 GHz processor, capacitive touchscreen and a 5 MP camera.
Micromax mobile company has a good hold in the low cost mobile segment and with the Micromax Superfone A85 they are all set to grab their share in the premium segment. Even though the handset comes with powerful features the android OS used is comparatively outdated, that I think could be the weakest link.
Micromax Superfone A85 Features
- This handset comes powered by a Dual Core processor (1 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2) with 512 MB RAM and internal storage of 8 GB. You can use an external microSD card (up to 32 GB) for additional storage.

- The Micromax A85 sports two cameras there is a front facing VGA camera and the rear facing primary camera of resolution 5 megapixels. The camera comes with auto focus, geo tagging and many other features but there is no LED Flash Support, this again is disappointing.
- Coming to the full touchscreen TFT capacitive display which is of size 3.8 inches supports 480 by 800 pixels resolution. The picture quietly is much better, sharper and crispier.
- Accelerometer and proximity sensors are present and the 4 dedicated buttons that you see on front side are touch sensitive.

Micromax Superfone A85 price in India
Price Rs. 15,150
Conclusion
The Micromax A85 hardware specification are impressive but the OS does not do any justice to it. I am not sure if the OS can be officially upgraded to the latest android version, but if can, then consumers will not shy away from buying this handset. Other options to look for? Try Micromax A70 or Micromax A60.
