Airtel as expected has launched  a low cost 4G smartphone, the company in partnership with Karbonn mobiles have launched the Karbonn A40 Indian 4G VoLTE smartphone in India for just Rs. 1,399. This is quad core powered, runs Nougat and packed with 1400 mAh battery.

Airtel and Karbonn has launched the Karbonn A40 Indian handset to compete with Reliance JioPhone feature phone, and the big advantage is this is a smartphone and not a feature phone when compared with the JioPhone.

However the terms and conditions says customer needs to make Rs. 2,899 down payment for this Karbonn A40 and make 36 continuous recharge per month of Rs. 169. They will get Rs. 500 cash refund after 18 months and Rs. 1000 cash refund after 36 months. So in all the cash benefit will be Rs. 1,500 and the cost of the handset will come to Rs. 1,399.

Unlike the JioPhone the ownership of the Karbonn A40 with be with the user and there is no need to return the device to Airtel or Karbonn. Airtel / Karbonn under the Mera Pehla 4G Smartphone initiative will make this Karbonn A40 Indian handset available at an affordable price to the customers across the country.

Karbonn A40 Indian specification

This handset is powered by a 1.3GHz quad core processor chipset unknown but could be spreadtrum powered. Karbonn A40 features a 4 inch screen (resolution not mentioned). There is 1GB RAm and 8GB ROM, plus 32GB micro SD support.

This dual SIM handset comes with 2MP rear and a VGA front camera. Other features are 4G VoLTE, GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. A 1400 mAh battery powers this handset.
